Citrus Route - Reed Diffuser

  • Product label: Floral

Smells like walking into an orange orchard in full bloom.

The fragrance is a soft rebellion against the fading winter chill, as the first orange blossoms of the Western Cape citrus valleys begin to stir. Blooming white petals fill the air with a tender, sun-warmed sweetness: part orange, part flower, and forest-dry. Like opening a window and finding spring already inside.

Anatomy of scent

"It was a cold spring morning on the N7. We followed a hand-painted ‘naartjies’ sign and ended up behind a windbreak where a huge orchard was in full bloom. The air was crisp and green from the leaves and soft from the flowers. As we travelled on around Citrusdal, breathing in all kinds of blossoming citrus trees, the idea for “Citrus Route” cemented – I wanted that bloom set in fragrance for home: a beautiful floral scent with a bright, sour note of citrus and a woody finish."

Veronika, co-founder of Mylk.

FAQ

A reed diffuser is a flame-free way to scent your space: reeds sit in a bottle of fragrance oil, wick it up, and slowly perfume the air.

  1. Remove sealing wax on top (easiest with a knife). Feel free to keep the remaining sealing wax on the bottle for decoration or remove completely;
  2. Uncap the bottle and insert 3-5 reeds;
  3. Let them soak 2–3 hours, then flip once to start diffusion;
  4. Place on a coaster/tray. Keep away from sun and vents;
  5. Flip weekly. Add or remove reeds to taste.

Mylk diffusers last about 2 months on average (≈ 6–12 weeks). Lifespan depends on room size, heat/sunlight, airflow (vents, open windows), how many reeds you use, and how often you flip them.

Flip every 1–2 weeks, or when the scent feels light. Flip over a tissue/sink to catch drips, and wash hands after. Note: frequent flipping will shorten lifespan.

The scent is strong enough to comfortably fill anything from small rooms to larger living areas thanks to the high fragrance load we use. Don’t expect it to perfume an office block, but it’ll work great for your average rooms. Keep all 5 reed sticks in for maximum scent throw, or dial it down to 3-4 reeds if you prefer a softer, more subtle scent.
