Citrus Route - Scented Candle

Citrus Route - Scented Candle

Smells like walking into an orange orchard in full bloom.

The fragrance is a soft rebellion against the fading winter chill, as the first orange blossoms of the Western Cape citrus valleys begin to stir. Blooming white petals fill the air with a tender, sun-warmed sweetness: part orange, part flower, and forest-dry. Like opening a window and finding spring already inside.

Anatomy of scent

"It was a cold spring morning on the N7. We followed a hand-painted ‘naartjies’ sign and ended up behind a windbreak where a huge orchard was in full bloom. The air was crisp and green from the leaves and soft from the flowers. As we travelled on around Citrusdal, breathing in all kinds of blossoming citrus trees, the idea for “Citrus Route” cemented – I wanted that bloom set in fragrance for home: a beautiful floral scent with a bright, sour note of citrus and a woody finish."

FAQ

Candle Care

For the first light, simply let the wax melt all the way to the glass edge to set an even “memory” pool. Place the candle on a level, heat-safe surface away from drafts, air-conditioning and direct sun, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. For subsequent burns, trim the wick to about 6 mm before lighting. Burn in sessions of 2-4 hours; if the flame grows tall or you notice smoke, extinguish, allow the wax to cool, trim a little shorter and relight. To avoid tunnelling, allow each burn to create an even surface across the top. Snuff rather than blow to minimise smoke, and store your candle in a cool, dry place to protect the fragrance. When the candle is finished, you can clean out the jar and either refill it with a Mylk Pack or repurpose the vessel.

Absolutely, yes! We know the stack of used candle jars all too well, so we created Mylk Pack Refills to minimize waste and stretch your budget.

Packs come in the same fragrances as our main candle collection — and you get the simple pleasure of making your own candle. Give it a try :)

General

A plant-based soy–coconut wax blend to imperfect the melt and burn performance, plus IFRA-aligned fragrance oils and a natural cotton wick.

We don’t use paraffin, parabens, phthalates, or other health-harmful additives. For best scent and burn, we recommend using your candles within one year.

Our candles are formulated with increased fragrance-oil loads, so they open quickly in regular and large rooms. Airflow, ceiling height, and placement all affect diffusion. Heavier profiles (woods, amber bases) are naturally more noticeable than lighter ones (citrus, florals).
